Deke teams up with a young detective in LA to hunt a killer tied to his past.

October 1990. Aging Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon, nicknamed Deke, is sent to Los Angeles on a minor assignment. Five years earlier, he was a respected detective here, but one case ruined his life and damaged his health. Deke meets young and ambitious detective Jim Baxter, who is investigating murders suspiciously similar to those unsolved from five years ago. Deke decides to stay longer, determined this time to see the case through and catch the killer at any cost.
