A soldier befriends a Sioux tribe and embraces their way of life.

The film tells the story of Lieutenant John Dunbar during the American Civil War. Due to his bravery in battle, he is sent to a remote garrison on the Western frontier. There, he lives alone and gradually gets to know the local Sioux tribe. Although there is initially alienation, over time, trust and friendship develop between them. Dunbar changes his views by studying their culture and way of life. He even earns the nickname "Dances with Wolves". The film deeply explores the ideas of humanity, cross-cultural respect, and living in harmony with nature, and was a huge success as an epic Western.
