The rise of a legendary merchant, benefactor, and national hero.

Based on the life of Ioannis Varvakis, the film follows a Greek sailor who leaves behind his turbulent past and seeks a new beginning in the Russian Empire. Through determination and innovation, he builds a vast fortune in the caviar trade and becomes one of the wealthiest merchants of his era. Rather than keeping his riches for himself, Varvakis dedicates much of his wealth to charity and to supporting Greece's struggle for independence. The historical drama celebrates ambition, generosity, resilience, and the pursuit of freedom.
