A famous auctioneer is hired to sell an estate and gets entangled in a cunning thriller involving art and deception.

Virgil Oldman (Geoffrey Rush) is a high-end art auctioneer and appraiser, lonely and eccentric, living a life surrounded by priceless portraits of women but void of real human connection. His life changes when a mysterious young heiress, Claire Ibbetson, hires him to auction off the large collection of art and antiques left by her parents. Claire suffers from agoraphobia and refuses to be seen, piquing Virgil’s curiosity. As he falls for her, he becomes part of a complex psychological game where authenticity and forgery are indistinguishable.
