“Uglies” (2024) is an American science-fiction dystopian film directed by McG, based on the novel by Scott Westerfeld. In this future world, society divides people into “uglies” and “pretties”: at age 16 everyone must undergo a cosmetic operation to conform to strict beauty standards. The story follows Tally Youngblood, a teenager who faces this transformation but chooses instead to embark on a dangerous journey to find her missing friend and to discover her own identity in a world obsessed with appearance.
