Set during the golden age of the Anatolian Seljuk State in the 13th century, the series follows Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad as he rises from years of imprisonment to the throne. After spending eight years behind the walls of a dungeon, Alaeddin finally gains his freedom and begins his struggle to secure the throne inherited from his father. Yet ruling the kingdom is only one of his challenges. Rivalries within the dynasty, secret alliances, betrayal and palace intrigues threaten his power from every direction. His life also becomes intertwined with Destina, the daughter and heir of the ruler of Alanya. Their relationship begins with hostility but gradually develops into a powerful love. As political ambitions collide with personal feelings, Alaeddin must face enemies determined to destroy both his reign and his future.
