A student tries to rescue a girl kidnapped for a forced marriage in the Caucasus.

Shurik comes to one of the mountainous regions of the Caucasus to collect samples of folk folklore. There he meets Nina, an athlete, an excellent student and a beautiful girl, and falls in love with her. The local official Saakhov wants to force Nina to marry him and for this he hatches a plan to kidnap the girl. Shurik initially becomes a victim of deception and unwittingly helps in this matter. When he learns the truth, he fights to save Nina. The film is full of funny situations, vivid characters and famous dialogues, and is considered one of the most successful comedies of Leonid Gaidai's work and is still loved by viewers today.
