During the Siege of Leningrad, a young couple fights to survive after their evacuation barge sinks on Lake Ladoga.

In September 1941, Leningrad is under siege, and Lake Ladoga becomes one of the few routes available for evacuating civilians. Young lovers Kostya and Nastya unexpectedly find themselves aboard barge No. 752, carrying people from the besieged city to the opposite shore. The aging vessel is dangerously overloaded with around 1,500 passengers. Shortly after leaving the shore, the weather changes dramatically and a powerful storm strikes the lake. The barge suffers severe damage and begins to sink, leaving the passengers struggling to survive in the freezing water and chaos. When a distress signal is sent, enemy aircraft arrive before rescuers and attack the stricken vessel. Kostya and Nastya fight to stay alive while the other passengers face the same desperate situation. The film is based on the real sinking of barge No. 752 on September 17, 1941, a tragedy connected with the evacuation of Leningrad during the siege.
