“The Mummy” (1999) is an action-adventure film with elements of fantasy and horror, set in Egypt in the early 20th century. Adventurer Rick O’Connell joins librarian Evelyn Carnahan and her brother Jonathan on an expedition to the ancient city of Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead. There, they accidentally awaken Imhotep, a cursed high priest buried alive for a forbidden love. Once resurrected, the mummy unleashes terrifying powers in a quest to regain his human form and revive his lost love. The heroes must stop the ancient evil before it destroys the world.
