After twenty years in prison, Don Diego de la Vega (the original Zorro) escapes to seek revenge against his nemesis, Rafael Montero, and reclaim his daughter. He recruits Alejandro Murrieta, a rough-around-the-edges thief, and transforms him into his successor. Under Diego's guidance, the new Zorro must stop Montero's scheme to buy California and bring justice back to the people.
