A fallen countess meets a blind diplomat in prewar Shanghai.

The film tells the story of the lives of Russian aristocrats living in Shanghai in the 1930s. Former countess Sofia Belinskaya falls into poverty after the revolution and works in a nightclub to support her family. At the same time, blind American diplomat Todd Jackson dreams of creating the ideal nightclub in Shanghai. He makes Sofia the center of his project, and a complex emotional relationship develops between them. However, political instability, the threat of war and personal tragedies change their lives. The film creates a graceful dramatic story about a lost aristocratic world, love and human hope. The atmosphere, costumes and acting are the main strengths of the film.
