A small-town sheriff uncovers corruption among the police officers he once admired.

"Cops" is a 1997 crime drama film set in the town of Garrison, New Jersey. It is home to a predominantly New York City police force. Local sheriff Freddy Heflin has been a fan of cops since childhood, but was rejected by the police because of his hearing loss. After a series of suspicious incidents and murders, Homeland Security detective Moe Tilden begins to uncover corruption in the town. Freddy gradually realizes that the police officers he respected are involved in crime and corruption. The film explores themes of honesty, duty, betrayal, and the struggle for justice.
