Sharik and Matroskin quarrel over winter shoes, but a New Year reunion brings the friends back together.
On the eve of New Year, Sharik and Matroskin have a serious argument in Prostokvashino. The trouble begins when Sharik buys fashionable sneakers instead of traditional winter felt boots, spending money that Matroskin considers essential for the household. The two friends stop speaking to each other and even begin dividing their belongings. Postman Pechkin becomes an unwilling messenger, carrying telegrams between the two sides of the house. Meanwhile, Uncle Fyodor is helping his father repair their old car. As the New Year approaches, father and son decide to travel to Prostokvashino and visit Sharik and Matroskin. The snowy village soon becomes the setting for a warm holiday reunion, where the characters discover that friendship is more important than their petty disagreement.
