A genetic experiment turns animals into giant monsters that threaten an entire city.

Primatologist Davis Okoye has shared a strong bond with George, an exceptionally intelligent gorilla he has cared for since birth. Their relationship changes dramatically when a dangerous genetic experiment goes wrong and transforms George into a gigantic and increasingly aggressive creature. Soon, Davis discovers that other animals have also been exposed to the same genetic pathogen, including a powerful wolf and an enormous crocodile. As the mutated creatures grow stronger and begin destroying cities, Davis joins forces with genetic engineer Kate Caldwell to find a way to stop them. While military forces attempt to contain the disaster, Davis focuses on finding an antidote that could save both humanity and his old friend George. Their search leads to a massive confrontation in Chicago.
