An Iranian mother escapes abuse to build a new life with her daughter.
The film tells the story of Shayda, an Iranian woman living in Australia in the 1990s. She flees her abusive husband and moves into a women's shelter with her daughter Mona. Shayda tries to build a new life and create a safe future for her daughter. However, her husband, Hossein, uses his temporary visitation rights to threaten their lives again. As Nowruz approaches, Shayda faces difficult choices between her roots, the responsibility of motherhood, and independence. The film explores themes of domestic violence, immigration, and the inner strength of women in an emotional and realistic way. Zar Amir Ebrahimi's performance was highly praised as one of the film's strongest points.
