Two brothers wage an increasingly chaotic war against one very clever mouse.
After their father dies, brothers Ernie and Lars Smuntz inherit an old mansion and the family string factory. They decide to restore the house because of its historical value and hope to make a fortune by selling it. Their plans are interrupted by a remarkably clever mouse living inside the mansion. The brothers try everything they can think of to get rid of their tiny opponent, including elaborate traps, cats and professional exterminators. Nothing works for long, as the mouse repeatedly outsmarts them and destroys their efforts. What begins as a simple attempt to remove a household pest soon becomes an escalating battle between two frustrated brothers and one extraordinarily resourceful mouse.
