A Soviet cosmonaut returns from space carrying a deadly alien organism.
"Sputnik" is a science fiction horror film set in the atmosphere of the Soviet era. The story revolves around the Soviet cosmonaut Konstantin Veshnyakov, who returns from space in 1983. After the mission, his partner dies, but it is discovered that Konstantin is inhabited by an unknown alien creature. The government decides to study this phenomenon at a secret military base and attracts psychologist Tatyana Klimova. While working with the cosmonaut, she begins to understand the dangerous connection between humans and the beast. The film is characterized by a cold Soviet aesthetic, a tense atmosphere and elements of psychological horror. The picture is a modern Russian fantasy inspired by classic space horror films in the style of "Alien".
