But when the tyrant Gessler humiliates the people and threatens Tell's family, he joins the resistance movement. Wilhelm gradually becomes a symbol of the struggle for the people's freedom. The film shows the themes of political oppression, loyalty, freedom and rebellion. Large-scale battle scenes, historical decorations and Alpine landscapes give the plot an epic spirit. The work is based on the famous drama by Friedrich Schiller.
