A subway dispatcher races to save hostages after a train is hijacked by armed criminals.

During a normal working day on the New York subway, train number 123 is hijacked by armed criminals. The leader of the group, Ryder, demands a large ransom from the city government and chooses subway dispatcher Walter Garber to negotiate. Garber races against time to save the lives of passengers. Ryder, on the other hand, strives to carry out his carefully planned operation. During the negotiations, a psychological confrontation arises between the two men. Events take a dramatic turn, and the subway system, the police and the city administration are put under pressure.
