A boy and a grumpy man become fugitives in the wild while forming an unlikely bond.

The film tells the story of Ricky Baker, a teenager with social problems. He is placed in the home of a kind woman living in the countryside, Bella, and her abusive husband, Huck. After Bella dies, the state plans to return Ricky to the orphanage. The frightened boy runs away into the woods, and Huck follows him to find him. However, their path leads to a massive search operation across the country. Along the way, they become closer and understand what a real family is. The film explores the themes of humanity and freedom in a funny, emotional, and adventurous way.
