A lone scientist tries to warn a returning space crew about a global catastrophe.
The film takes place on Earth after a global catastrophe. An elderly scientist, Augustine, is left alone on a research station in the Arctic and tries to warn the crew returning from space about the danger. At the same time, he meets a mysterious girl, Iris. The crew of the space ship "Aether" faces an unknown threat on the way back to Earth. The film reveals the importance of human survival, loneliness, hope and connection. Although the characters are far from each other, their fates develop inextricably, leading to a dramatic ending.
